Kinetica, established in 2012, is a performing arts company and circus school based in Malaga (Western Australia).
We all know that being active is good for us, but in a world of competition and body image confusion, it’s sometimes hard to get our family members interested in movement – the gym and competitive sports aren’t for everyone. Circus is a great alternative, with classes available for children and adults, and an inclusive environment that suits the individual.
Kinetica’s aim is to provide an environment for talented local artists to train, collaborate and produce new works. Kinetica’s Circus School provides training for both youth and adults, catering for beginner to advanced skill levels. This is facilitated by close collaboration with local and international artists and arts companies within circus, fashion, visual art, multimedia, photography, theatre, dance and puppetry to enrich aspects of both training and performance.
Kinetica was sponsored by Act-Belong-Commit and Healthway to deliver an exciting program of community-based youth circus classes. These classes allow young people (between 5yrs – 17yrs) to learn circus skills and work towards circus performance opportunities in a fun and safe learning environment.
The physical and mental rigor of the circus routines helps to improve mental health by enhancing self esteem, confidence, body image, leadership and team work skills. It also provides participants with a sense of belonging and a meaningful challenge by encouraging positive risk taking with an emphasis on fun.
